Scientific Basis and Individual Variation
Our calculator is based on the established scientific understanding that human sleep typically follows cycles of approximately 90 minutes. However, it's important to recognize that:
- Individual sleep cycles can vary from 70-120 minutes
- Sleep cycle duration can change based on age, health status, and other factors
- The 14-minute sleep onset time used in our calculations is a population average
Calculator Limitations
Our sleep calculator:
- Provides general recommendations based on population averages
- Cannot account for individual sleep architecture variations
- Does not consider environmental factors that may affect sleep
- Cannot diagnose or treat sleep disorders
